This deep ruby beer has a very soft, long-lasting head. It is smooth and creamy with a sweet aroma. It is medium to full bodied. The caramel maltiness is complimented by a slight floral hoppiness (though not too much for the style). It is mellow, sweet, and comforting.

Served from a hand pump, it arrives a clear bronze color with a thin head that lasted through most of the drink. Lacing was thick on the glass. The aroma is malty and rustic. The flavors are of typical scottish ales, but slighlty weaker on the tastebuds (which is not a bad thing). The malt dominates. Very smooth mouthfeel and has a clean finish. This beer went down easily and was quite pleasant.

Part of the sampler and the last of seven I tried from Triumph on June 24th, 2003. Which was all they had on tap at the time.This was the only beer they served in its correct place, with the possible exception of serving it sixth and the Irish Dry Stout last.

Poured a dark, reddish brown color like that of a fine cherry desk. The initial pour(or pump) produced a haze that a cask-conditioned ale should which settled into a clear beer with a thick bubbly head and peaks and valleys of lacing on the glass.

Aromas of rich, toasted malt with a slightly dry scent and that all too familiar woodsy, earthy scent that instantly identifies this as a cask-conditioned ale.

The taste is a beautiful dance of perfectly roasted sweet malt and a earthy, peat flavors that the cask imparts on the beer. Beautiful medium-full body that dances around your mouth and leaves your tongue confused by the wet refreshment, yet dry feeling it imparts. For any Scottish Ale fan seak this out for something a bit different. And for all you lovers of the cask run to this malty bit of heaven. Simply wonderful. Man I love cask beers.

This was worth the trip to Triumph alone! I would drink this beer every day of the week and five times on Sunday.
