Appearance: hazy copper in color with a very short 1/4" head that slowly falls to thin surface spots. A spot or two of lace stuck to the glass but slid away.
Smell: very sweet candy-like aroma with some ripe fruits.
Taste: the nose warns you that this will be a very sweet beer. Apples, overripe pears, and load of candied sugars make a overly sweet beer that has some limited balancing with mild bitterness and some warming from the high alcohol level. Dryness abounds through this too.
Mouthfeel: lightly crisp and dry at the start. Smooth and dry at the finish. Long sweet aftertaste. Medium bodied beer.
Drinkability: this tripel was a leaning a bit too strong on the sweet side in my opinion. Definite slow sipper here, but becomes tiring as the glass empties.

Love Potion is an interesting, reddish colored triple that clocks in at over 9%, hence the name.
Sampled 19 June 2007: Served in a small chalice glass, the creamy dollop of off-white foam held remarkably well, and left some thin but nice Belgian lace behind. The nose was delicately fruity and just a touch spicy with yeast (it's made with the Chimay strain). The flavor delivered candy and fruit, but it was much more dry than sweet. Leafy, grassy, and spicy hops flittered in the background. And for a beer of over 9%, there was very little alcohol to be noticed. Medium-light bodied and delicately bristling on the tongue. Well worth a try, especially for lovers of Belgian ales.

Triumph New Hope- Love Potion
Appearance- Hazy rusty orange/ brown with a decent finger thick head.
Smell- Very fruity, cherry, banana, and clove. Slight raisin an prune hints as well.
Taste- Banana and clove meet sugary fruit ( cherry and prune)
Mouthfeel- First sip reveals the 9% alcohol but it quickly becomes masked with a nice bold fruity flavor. Flavor holds up nicely. Too easy to drink.
Overall- A nice Tripal that is easy to down. 9% alcohol too. Definitely worth the $4. Highly recommended!!
