Pretty straightforward golden lager look. Thin white head doesn't last long. Bready nose. The flavor and mouthfeel leave you a bit limp though. Just not enough zest or malt presence to be memorable. Meh.

Pours a bright and shimmering cold color with small cap of white froth, gone quickly with little lacing. Scent is pale and muted combining clean euro-malts with lightly spicy grassy and leafy hops. Taste is quite surprisingly good, nice profile of dried grain and pilsner malt with a splash of grassy, leafy hops. Easy drinking, light but good flavor, refreshing. Light bodied, good carbonation level, slight lingering bite. A good, easy drinking beer with some character.

First had: on tap at Triumph, Philly, PA

Poured into a tumbler, a clear gold with a finger or two of white head that receded to a thin layer, leaving a tiny bit of lace behind. Basic smell of sweet malts, grainy, with a hint of hops coming through. Similar profile in the taste, with sweet, toasty malts in the foreground, a good quantity of grains, and a leafy hop presence for a bit of balance. Not overly flavorful or distinctive, a little on the light-bodied side, but still good, and fairly drinkable if you're not feeling adventurous.

Went to the Triumph Brew Pub in Philadelphia, and noticed they had a few new beers there since my last visit. Necided to try the Helles Lager. And this beer was a excellent beer. It has a good gold color and a good aroma of hops. I will definitely drink this beer when I visit this brewpub again.

Pours a clear gold and delivers a mild nose. Seems a bit sweet on the fragrance as well. Flavor is smooth with a nice unwavering tone. Feel is good on liquid and carbonation and it goes down easily. A good lager that you could have more than a few of.

Appearance: Served a perfectly transparent gold color with a big white head and attractive lacing.

Smell: To style it had a clean lager like nose that is slightly sweet with German malts and a bit of grain.

Taste: Sweet easy flavor built for consumption. Smooth and easy the toasted Munich malts deliver a gentle sweetness and the earthy hops and spices balance nicely with a crisp dry bite at the finish.

Mouthfeel: Light crisp refreshing easy.

Drinkability: This is the epitome of summer sessioners. This is what they make big German mugs for. Take home a growler and drink it all afternoon. It is a Munich Lager. If you like the style (many BAs don’t, but if you do), try this one.

Hope this is helpful.
Cheers!

Triumph- New Hope

Helles Lager

Appearance- bubbly yellow with a thick white head.
Smell- yuk. stinky wet rotting hay. Strong yeast!
Taste- nothing like the smell. Light crisp toasted malt. Light corn sweetness.
Mouthfeel- not as heavily carbonated as I was expecting, light and easy to drink. Nice even flavor throughout.

Overall- you could easily polish off 3-4 of these. Nice crisp easy beer on a hot afternoon.

It poured a bright straw gold with plenty of white head. The aroma was lightly of malt with a bit of floral or hoppy aroma to it. The taste was clean and crisp with a nice balance of malt and hops. There was a bit of spice to it and the finish was a the right amount of hops. It had a light to medium feel and a dry texture. This is a very fine mild/light beer that would be good with lighter fare.

It pours a clear, deep golden body with a frothy, bright-white head that holds quite well and leaves some nice lace throughout the glass. The nose displays some lightly peppery/spicy and floral hops amidsts gently sweet and grainy malt. The body is medium with a fine, median carbonation that leaves it crisp on the tongue before warming to become just slightly creamy and smooth. The flavor delivers a rounded malt that obviously includes a good percentage of Munich malt. It's just lightly toasty and a tad sweet, but very well-balanced by its lightly floral and gently herbal hop flavors and firm bitterness. It finishes dry but with a lingering maltiness. Quite nice, and highly drinkable. It's refreshing, but it also offers enough character to make you want another, and another, and another... An excellent example of the Munich helles style! Very clean, very well done, and very worth trying! Quite possibly the best lager to come out of the New Hope location yet.
