Has a nice black color with ruby at the edges. The taste has some roastiness to it from the chocolate malt, but as time goes on we get more sweetness as well.

I find this style to be incredibly drinkable, and this beer is a pretty darn good example of this style.

On tap at Triumph Philly on 2/23/08.

A - Deep burgundy/brown coloration with some ruby accents and a healthy one-finger off-white, almost tan, fluffy head. Carbonation is hidden by the darkness of the body. Head receded to a thin veil but left some ornate lacing around the glass.

S - Smokey aroma with some faint dark fruit reminiscent of prunes or dried apricots. Hops are earthy and in the background. Very faint coffee and chocolate notes also present.

T - Dark, rich malts with a smokey, meaty flavor and an earthy hop presence. Some molasses and sweet tobacco in the back. Bready malt and more mild hops in the finish.

M - Medium body with slightly syrupy texture and soft carbonation. Fairly robust mouthfeel with a smokey/meaty finish.

D - Nice dark beer with a lot of flavor. Nothing too overpowering in the flavor or aroma. Smokiness works well here. Very easy to drink.
