First had: on tap at the Garden State Craft Brewers Guild 15th Annual Beer Festival, USS New Jersey, Camden, NJ
Poured a deep black with a nice cap of beige head that retained well. Big, big roastiness in the aroma, dark malts and coffee. Tasted almost like straight coffee...definitely the coffee-est beer I've ever imbibed. This is not a good thing for me, because I hate coffee, but I do like coffee stouts, so I can appreciate this enough to not let the rating suffer. Cocoa notes also detectable in the flavor, with more coffee bitterness in the finish. Creamy, but not quite full bodied, but definitely very drinkable especially if you like your coffee.

A: Pours pitch black with a creamy, Guinness-looking head. Retention is excellent and the head is light brown
S: Delicate, lactose, light coffee, roasty and toasty malts. Seems really balanced and delicious
T: Lots of lactose, coffee grounds, caramel, toffee, roasted malts, and light cocoa
MF/D: Smooth, creamy, medium body, velvety texture. Really drinkable and sessionable at 5%
