Samples at the Triumph, Princeton. Pours dark brown hue with a creamy, brown head. Aroma is of coffee and some dark fruit. The body is medium and quite smooth. Coffee and roasted malt dominate flavors. Long, bitter finish. I did not enjoy this brew much.

Triumph "Oatmeal Stout"
Triumph's notes:
"A velvety smooth stout combining seven different malts plus oatmeal for a truly substantial body and texture."
Appearance:
Deep, dark chocolate brown with a 1" tan head that never quite dissipates.
Aroma:
Mocha, roasted malts, something smoky.
Taste:
Coffee flavors come out first, veiled in a smoky haze that was quite nice. Velvety milk chocolate comes in around the middle, just as the coffee becomes more pronounced and bitter. Nice!
Mouthfeel:
Medium bodied, with a nice velvety texture. No carbonation
Drinkability:
Very drinkable -- a sort of middle of the road stout in terms of flavor extremes.

This beer was dark brown in color but I would not consider it black like some other stouts. There was a thick, creamy tan head that lasted throughout the time it took me to consume the beer. Like some other stouts at the edges of the foam, there were some dark rings that were sticky. Incredible amount of lacing was left behind in the glass.
Excellent aroma that was chocolate like and very roasty.
Flavor really matched the aroma and did not disappoint. Ultra creamy in texture this beer leaned towards the chocolate side of flavors vs. coffee in some other stouts.
Excellent smooth flavor that finished in a nice clean way and left you wanting the next sip.
Very drinkable.
Nice Stout.

Ill admit that I am not a Triumph brew fan because I feel many taste the same with different colors but they have done a bang up job on this one in the New Hope PA location. Had on tap and this one was pin-point.
A: Head stuck aroudn the whole beer and lacing was consistent. Dark dark color, nearly black and coffee appearance.
S: Not too strong, would have liked a little more here but the coffee overtones were clear with a bit of the smoky molasses in the aroma as well.
T: First tastes were smoky and coffee. The creamy chocolatiness came through later but the coffee flavor tightened by the texture was exceptional.
M: Practically no carbonation, just a nice thick texture that was like a pillow. Crisp and smooth, nice.
D: Very drinkable for a stout, given the mild flavor. A great accomplice to many different types of food that I look to enjoy with this one.
Mild and smoky flavor was perfect for the season and never thought I would have requested a growler to bring home from Triumph. I was proven incorrect. Well done.

Served as a very deep reddish-brown colored beer with modeate tannish head.
Smell is notable for roasted malt with coffee and chicory also detected.
Taste matches the smeel with a nice roasted malt character blending with some coffee.
Finishes rich and creamy in the mouth.
A good example of the style. Alcohol very well hidden.

The Oatmeal Stout was one of 6 Triumph beers on tap at the Triumph Brew Pub in Princeton NJ.
Poured a dark brown/black with a cocoa brown head that continued to evolve minutes after the pour. Beauty. Foam formed a spiral ring around the glass as the beer slowly disappeared.
Some roasted malt aroma, but nothing prominant,
Taste was bland, with not a lot of malt flavor. Dissapointing.
The mouthfeel was incredibly creamy, and this is an amazingly smooth beer.
Needs more flavor. Not one I would want to try again.

Pours out a nice dark, dark brown, almost no light getting through anywhere. Nice tan head rises and sits on top the whole drink.
Smell. Quite nice, lots of creamy coffee aromas, small molasses aroma as well.
Taste. It's good. very creamy and smooth. Seemed it was from a nitro-tap, though i dont see it. More tastes of mild creamed coffee with tiny traces of chocolate. very smooth though.
Mouthfeel. Little carbonation, making it quite drinkable. Nice balance and nice creaminess, though i wish there was more carbonation to give it a stronger taste.
Overall, a nice beer, but i have to disagree with what most others said about it. I dont think it is a great stout. Flavor was just too mild, even for a oatmeal stout, and mouthfeel was too thin.

Triumph Oatmeal Stout
On tap in New Hope.
Appearance- dark mahogany brown with a huge thick creamy tan head.
Smell- lighty roasted hops. A faint odor of toast.
Taste- smooth and dry. Nice balance of malt and lighty roasted hops.
Mouthfeel- warm and smooth. So easy to drink.
Overall- nothing mind blowing here but a decent oatmeal stout that would easily be a session beer on a cold winter night.

Nearly opaque black with a small tan head that left a bit of lacing, but not much. Aromas are of light roasted malts, a bit of coffee and chocolate and a hint of caramel with green leafy hops in the background. The taste is very similar to the aroma of this brew. A little roasty, with some nice coffee and chocolate flavors, but not much else is going on here. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and drinkability is good. Probably the most solid beer served up at the New Hope Triumph.

The beer poured a rich dark brown with a tan head. The aroma was of malt with a bit of fire and hops. The taste was pretty much straightforward it was a pretty even blend of malt and hops. It was not unpleasant, but it had no outstanding qualities. The beer had a decent weight on the heavier side, and bit of dryness to it. This is a beer that shot right down the middle. It gave nothing unpleasant, but it also gave nothing of note. This is a beer I would neither seek out nor avoid.
