I got this one at the Basil T's Brew Pub in Toms River on 1/26/2008. When I was there, they called this beer a "Winter Ale." I'm sure it's the same beer. They served it to me in standard American pint glass. It had a nice crimnson red/mahagony brown color. The head of foam was light tan color that was less than 1/2 an inch in height. The head of foam quickly faded into a few light tan colored rings and spots of lace. It had a strong sweet based aroma of candy sugar, a few spices, and white grapes. I thought that at the end of the aroma it smelled alot like white wine. The taste was dry and sweet at the same time and contained toasted malts, hops, sugar, a hint of yeast, and more sugar at the end. The mouthfeel was medium bodied and sugary with a mild aftertaste of toasted malts and even more sugar. It drank like a Pixie stick. I thought this beer had way too much sugar in it. It was so sweet that I thought they should sell this one at a candy store and not a brewpub.

Winter Ale by Basil T's- Toms River
Appearance- Reddish amber with a nice thick tan head.
Smell- Cinnimon and nutmeg with a hint of floral.
Taste- very good! cinnimon with not too much nutmeg and hops.
Mouthfeel- smooth! with a warm coating on the tongue.
Overall, a delicious beer that I could drink all night long.

Pours with a nice healthy tan head that settles over hazy dark reddish liquid. The nose is a blend of malt sweetness, spices that are dominated by cinnamon and a background flowery hop note. The chewy and malty body features notes of caramel, slight biscuity hints, and more cinnamon with an adequate hop rate. Finishes on a bittersweet note that lingers along with spicy flavors, another well done brew.
