I'm a big red ale fan. I love the style. This beer is a pretty good example of that style.

It has a very nice, dark red color, with a moderate thickness off-white head. The mouthfeel is medium.

It had a nice, well balanced flavor. A toasty malt aroma was the first experience. The flavor was reasonably malty at first, with a nicely mild hop finish.

All in all, a great example of the style, and a selection I'll definitely order on future trips to Toms River.

the last of my dirty tap line beers from basil t's, and this one was the least affected by it too, with only a slight hint of the problem at the back of the nose. other than that, this one turned out to be a refreshing and drinkable amber. it pours (surprise, surprise) a nice, dark amber colour with a slightly off-white head, albiet a fairly tiny one. good overall, nonetheless. the smell is pretty a basic one for an amber: hop and malt are present and nicely balanced, there's some sweet caramel here too. the flavour pretty much echoes the smell, but there's a semi-decent hop kick at the back which leads me to say the hops dominated a touch more in the flavour, but that's ertainly not a complaint. mouthfeel is nice with good carbonation levels. of the more basic basil t's brews, i'd have to say this one's one of my favourites.

When this beer poured, i was prepared to be disappointed. While it came a pleasant dark amber/red color, it had little head, and no lacing to speak of occured. My concerns were addressed on the first taste. This is a good beer. Fresh, malty smell, but topped with a hoppiness at the end. Drinking it made me want to sing Don Ho's "Tiny Bubbles", as it felt that they bounced off the tongue, making the taste nice and light. Yeah, i could have another. I could run with this beer for a while. But there were others to try, so on we moved. If back, I'll keep this one in reserve, and save it for last.

Served as part of a sampler tray at their brewpub In Tom’s River, NJ. This was an attractive beer. Orange/amber/brown in color, very clear with a thin lacey head. The aroma yields small notes of caramel and darker grains. The flavor is very smooth and mellow with a surprise soft hop bite in the finish. A light bodied beer some soft buttery texture to it. Smooth, well done. Very much drinkable.

Toms River Red beer by Basil T's- Toms River

Appearance- a beautiful dark red with a thick head that lasted until the bottom of the glass!
Smell- roasted hopswith a slight smokiness.
Taste- delicious! A slight ashiness with a good robust hops flavor.
Mouthfeel- a slight bitterness in the backend but crisp and inviting.

Overall, another good beer by Basil T's. A beer you can't skip if you're in the Ocean County area.
