Served as part of a sampler tray at their brewpub In Tom’s River, NJ. This was one hell of a bad beer, I must say. This so-called Pilsner looked harmless enough, a bit dark, but still a deep golden color that borderlines orange. A small soapy head of foam topped it off. The aroma is where everything went wrong, and in a bad way. Very fruity, syrupy and just an overall jumbled mess of floral and fruit like hops that really don’t work on any level. The taste again is just a muddled mess of malts, fruits and hops. Nothing clean, no crispness, no snap! Sweet fruity tang in the finish. Did the brewer just throw everything he had laying around into the mash tun? I have to wonder. It says on their menu that this is lagered for 6 weeks and uses Czech Saaz hops. Well, no amount of lagering can help a beer that’s bad to begin with. And they might of meant Czech socks, not Saaz. This isn’t even close to a lame American version… Oh boy, My rant is over. Avoid this.
