Considering the popularity of extremely hopped American style IPAs, some people find it hard to believe the origins of this beer style were in England. The IPAs brewed in England weren’t over hopped. You could actually taste the malt! Brewed with English Challenger and Kent Goldings, this beer is a balanced version of the extreme American ideal IPA.

Purchased: On tap at Boscos, Nashville
A: Hazy beer with an orange hue. Lacing is good.
S: Aromas are of caramel malt sweetness with citrus and earthy hops.
T/M: Nicely balanced between the breadiness of the malt base and the bitterness of the hops. It's a bitter beer, but much more subdued than an American IPA. Carbonation and body are both in the medium range. Finish is dry and hoppy.
O: I'm not a hop-head, but thoroughly enjoyed this beer. I had it paired with one of the restaurants brick-oven pizzas and they went well together.

A - Reddish-brown color with a one finger frothy head. Slowly fades leaving excellent lacing.
S - Stronger hop aroma than expected in most English IPA's. A somewhat earthy/spicy hoppiness and a bisucity sweetness linger in the nose.
T - Biscuity and caramel malt sweetness up front overcome quickly by a spicy and piney hop bitterness. Finishes very sweet.
M/D - Medium bodied and very flavorful. An excellent IPA no matter which side of the Pond.

From a sampler: Orangish-amber color with a medium off-white head. Some lacing hangs around throughout the glass. Pleasant floral hops aroma. The flavor is more mellow than the Bombay IPA, and made it less interesting to me. The maltier character made for a smooth finish. Decent but not really memorable.
