Serverd on tap at the Nashville Cool Springs location.
A: Pours a buttery copper to dark golden with a slight chill haze. Fluffy white head disappeared quickly. No lacing in this brew.
S: Hints of sugar cane alternating with sweet floral hops. Very little nose to speak of.
T: Up front there is a saturating sweetness but I can't put my finger on the origin (honey? caramel?). Followed immediately by fruit, molasses, and a light raisins. Light floral hops. In the middle is wet, metallic bittering hops, slightly astringent. On the finish is an overwhelming amount of cane sugar. Overall the flavor is pleasant but not well-balanced.
M: Very syrupy with small amounts of carbonation. Buttery even. Not very well balanced here. Needs more co2 to break up the syrup/sugar.
D: 1-2 at the absolute most due to the sugar content. It sits heavy in the mouth like a peice of candy.
Comments: Raise the alcohol content (longer fermentation perhaps?) develop more carbonation, lower the sugar volume and I think you'll have something nice here.

On tap at the Memphis location...
Arrives looking much like a pale ale... Light golden appearance with a decent head..
Aroma is malty and almost a little fruity... Not very Strong Ale like thouugh...strange
Not bad at all... Sweet malts and a nice fruity background dominate this brew...its actually sort of tasty but not in a traditional way, if that makes sense...
Not a bad brew, but Boscos has several others that I would choose before this one.

Perhaps a bit disapointing. With a brew called 'Stock Ale' I expected something along the lines of North Coast's Old Stock Ale. This beer only had a light resemblence of this. Dark malts shows deep caramel / toffee along with a rich toasted quality, but no roastedness. Almost one-dimensional with the malts, with only mild fruitiness (dark dehydrated types) and fermentation character. Feels medium, but a little rich with sweetness. Finishes lightly cloying, but not deterring. On par with most Bock beers that I have tried.

I called this one an American Strong Ale because I'm not sure where it falls. Hope that's right. OG = 1.068, 40IBU. Pours a brown color with a small head that has nice retention and leaves some lacing on the glass. The aroma is sweet and has hints of caramel. The flavor was much the same. Slight sweetness and a smooth malty caramel flavor. The caramel flavor hits you right at the beginning of the flavor then trails off a bit. Nice body, smooth to drink and very enjoyable. Another great beer from Boscos.
