Appearance: Served up at my table a haze, pale light yellow body with a little bit of white fizz up top. Modest lacing.

Smell: Soft aroma of wheat malt overlayed with notes of spice (clove) and Big League Chew.

Taste: Minor graininess incorporated within the light malted wheat flavor. Some sweet wildflower honey accents. The anticipated spicy clove and bubblegum, though not much in the way of banana esters. Semi-dry finish, scantly creamyish with a continued wheat taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium to medium-light carbonation.

Overall: Decent enough. As with many of the Boscos brew, it's just okay.

I had this on tap at the Franklin location.

A: Poured a cloudy, mustard yellow, with about a 1/4 finger head that had good visible carbonation and a nice white head.

S: I got a massive explosion of banana and clove, with the banana win out by a nose.

T: Bubbly gum city! Seriously, "Bubalicious" coated the palate and then some, along with an awesome candi sugar undertow.

M: This was fairly sweet, but not cloyingly so. Along with the substantial lacing, this sucker really worked.

O: I was impressed with Bosco's line-up overall, and this was my favorite of them.

A: Hazy, light straw colored, capped by a smallish white head. Lacing is good, with a fair amount of retention. Too bad they don't serve this in a weizen glass to show off the appearance.

S: Fruity, with bananas and a bit of lemon zing. Also spiciness from the yeast.

T/M: Pleasant and light bodied, the taste seems spot on for style with bananas, cloves, and a citrus character as in oranges and lemons. Moderately sweet, with a dry finish and some tartness.

O: A very refreshing weissbeir -- I was glad to try this medal-winning brew!

I poured this beer at GABF last year and it was the gold medal winner in it's category. I did not know this until Saturday of course, but after spending 3 nights with this beer I really grew to appreciate it.

The color looked very normal for a Hefe. Nothing to unusual.

Smell was crisp and light. The yeast definitely permeates.

Taste is full for a hefe but very well balanced and refreshing

Drinkability is where this one if off the charts and why it has medaled at GABF three years in a row. I am mostly a stout and black ale guy but I kept thinking that on a hot day, there would be nothing better than this beer.

I'll look for them again at GABF next year.

A very traditional take on the German hefeweizen. Poured a moderately cloudy gold, with plenty of suspended yeast. Aroma was soft and bready. Noteworthy but not overdone banana flavor lurked in the background. Solid but not outstanding - this would be a good introductory hefe, but enough flavor to keep the beer geek interested.

As an interesting aside, when I ordered a pint, the keg was almost empty and the beer poured so laden with yeast that it looked like a milkshake in the glass. The bartender called for the keg to be changed out and then, casting a sly glance in our direction, she took a big drink of the slurry. Her comment: "well, that was certainly unfiltered."
