Bomber from Albertsons. Dark brown pour with huge Rocky head. Mild roasty aroma. First sip had me thinking Porter. More roasty bitterness in the taste. But just that, roasty bitterness and nothing else. Kind of watery and thin.

Poured from a brown 22 oz. bottle. Has a black color with a 1 inch head. Smell is very mild, some roasted malts. Taste is equal parts hops and roasted malts, but they just don't seem to be playing that well together. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a mediocre beer.

22 oz. bottle:
Pours very dark brown with a foamy/rocky head. Lacing sticks.
The smell is of dark chocolate, lightly roasted coffee. Earthy hops come through.
The taste is of rich dark chocolate with some caramel. Light roast and mildly bitter (earthy/herbal/tea-leaf) hops come through to balance sweetness. A maltier version of the style, but enough hops (that do not clash with the roast) are present to fit style.
The feel is smooth despite a slight acidic touch as it progresses.
An enjoyable American Black IPA!

Odd bottling code found on the bottom: 071 D1 0110. If I had to guess, I'd say this was brewed on the 110th day of '17, which was 04/21/17; makes sense since the press release for this brew dropped 5 days later. Did Rogue abandon their DDMMYY format on the side of the bottle already? I hope not.
Appearance - Pours black with cola brown edging and a thick, rocky near three-finger width head. Excellent retention, eventually settling to a thick layer of suds sitting atop. Lacing is broken sheeting with spots found between.
Smell - Classic Rogue aroma - roasted malt that is intriguingly deep in coffee and chocolate, with a bit of citrusy character as well.
Taste - Follows the nose. Lots of Roasty, chocolatey malts upfront and throughout met by some citrusy and slightly spicy hop character that also exhibits a hint of pine. Finish lingers with prominent mocha and lesser citrus bitterness lingering.
Mouthfeel - Medium-bodied with fair, bubbly carbonation. Slick, almost creamy texture that drinks nicely with a smooth, easy finish.
Overall - Does Rogue know how to roast some malt or what? Beautiful mocha-like character that plays off the lesser hop flavor. It reminds me a bit of Grand Teton's Trout Hop, though the hop profile isn't quite as deep or complex, possibly because this beer may be 9 months old. This is still a tasty beer, but I can only imagine how much better it could have been fresh when the hops were still prominent. Actually now that I think about it, it does remind me of the Trout Hop that I purposefully aged for about a year.

It's been a while since I recieved a Rogue beer so this is like a trip down memory lane. Mahoghany body with a solid creamy tan head. Nose is midding medicinal hops and some chocolate sweetness. Interesting balance with tasted and sweet molasses flavors balancing against the piney bitterness and spicy hebal hops in the finish. This has plenty of flavor and a low abv so pretty easy to drink at least a few.

From elcervecero. In Teku glass. Playing Pillars of Eternity. First pour had a great balance between roastyness and hoppyness, but in the second pour I found some light acidity that spoiled it a bit

650ml bottle poured into a snifter.
Very deep brown to almost crude black in color with very thick brown silky effervescence atop, it slowly dissipates to an everlasting frothy layer that won’t die down and leaving plenty of sticky lacing patch and spot on the glass-side.
In a nose, fruity, citrus, spice, and pine from hop while roasted, black coffee, dark chocolate, cocoa powder, brown sugar, and dark bread from malt, all together display in good shape and harmony.
It has nice balance in the palate sensation between fruity hop and roasted malt. Roasted malt and hop characters kick off in the same time jointly revealing the notes of fruity, citrus, spice, pine, roasted, black coffee, dark chocolate, cocoa powder, brown sugar, and dark bread as well as some bitterness that comes from both roasted malt and hop.
Medium body with creamy smooth mouthfeel and low to moderate carbonation but it is crisp enough to carry well all the things, the overall feeling is well-rounded with a pleasantly dry finish.
Pretty good Black IPA, roasted malt and hop, they harmoniously display in proper and balance fashion, not too thin and not too bold.
