3 month old can poured into a pint glass. The color is indeed violet and marionberry. The head pour was weak and had a fleeting crown and lacing. The smell is all marionberry, tart yet sweet and rich. The taste is berry sugar complexity forward followd by a very sour lingering finish, and a acrid note. The body is rich and full, and finishes very dry.
This is an odd sour. I blame the age (sours age poorly) for the lack of complexity and intense acidity. I imagine this is, under normal circumstances, and fantastic marionberry sour.

Poured into a goblet: color is ruby to violet, light pink head that presents thinly and dissipates to nothing.
Smell is light sour tart berry aroma - I'm not familiar with marionberry but it does smell unique; maybe some malt backing the fruit and lactic sourness.
Taste is similar with tart sour berry flavor that melds between berry and light grape juice, malt is backing but nothing dramatic, sourness is pleasant in flavor and not overdone.
Mouthfeel is low/moderate carbonation, moderate sweetness, light/moderate sourness, not puckering.
Overall this is a pleasant ale with light sourness, unique berry flavor, and seems to have balance in sweetness/sourness.

sexy cans (but i had it on draft) , tasty beer, not a style i have really known rogue to be to into, but i liked the sour beers i had while i was at their newport spot. a pretty deep pink to violet on it, not all the way clear but well enough refined looking, a little frosted maybe, and just a short head from the tap. smells a little jammy, but also like cranberries from the tartness and blackberries on the jammy and juicy side of the fruit, i think a pretty honest expression of marionberry and a pretty clean lactic sourness with some obvious lemon tang to it, minimal on the grain side. the flavor is about the same, not sure i would call it out as marionberry if i didnt know, but knowing, i think its a pretty faithful use of the fruit, a touch of sweetness but this actually drinks easy and dry, and not too acidic to want to have multiples of. almost a kool aid or fruit punch element about it, very light body, decent carbonation, a nice patio drinker on a fine afternoon when we were there, and a good accompaniment to the delicious soft pretzels they do make. i think this is a hard fruit to get to come through obviously, pretty much blackberry, but its close here. well made on the sour side and quite drinkable.

Can from Trader Joe's.
Pours a clear deep blackish pink with a dense, light pink head that recedes rapidly leaving little lacing. The nose is sweet, jammy and tart, a blend of sour blackberries and sweet raspberries. No real seed character is present. Initially appealing, the more i smell it, the more medicinal and unbalanced it seems. The palate opens refreshingly tart and mildly lactic with a blend of yogurt and strong berry tartness. Plenty of berry sweetness with some sugar and caramel is also present. Sweet on the finish with a lingering berry flavor, this is one juicy, jammy beer. No funk, this is all fruit. Decent, solid even.

This was actually quite a good sour the Marionberry was sweet and tart with a good base balance. Exceptional sour flavor even at 6.5% surprised me a bit. Love the purple hue as well. If I ever got a cheap sixer I would drink it again!
