Draft
Bartender pours half a finger of white head into a tulip glass. Looks pretty creamy. Body is a dark burnt orange, somewhat hazy. Head retention was average, but initial lacing is good. Looks good so far.
Loaded with esters, nose is wonderfully full of banana and clove. Smells very clean. Classic German smell, very good.
Flavor is much the same. Maybe not quite as much of a punch to it, but very good. Esters, banana, clove, smallest touch of bitterness. Not too sweet. Not really any bubblegum, which is ok I guess. A pretty good German style hef.
Mouthfeel is good, carbonation and body are about medium. Bitterness maybe lingers a tiny bit, along with a few lingering sugars. A little dryness here and there, but overall pretty wet on the tongue, while not being stupid sweet.
Drinkability is very high, it's tasty and not very heavy.
Appearance turned out ok. Lacing was pretty patchy and mostly un present, could have possibly had better lacing from a better pour. Overall ok, sub par lacing damages it quite a bit.
As a whole, a pretty solid German style hef. Not bursting with flavor like some of the classic examples, but very flavorful non the less.
