It’s been a few decades since a Colossal Claude sighting has been reported, but we’re fairly certain the massive sea monster has been laying low off the coast of his favorite brewery. Word has it that after years of terrifying sailors and feasting on salmon he acquired a taste for hops. So we brewed this Imperial IPA with a colossal dose of Cascade, Chinook, Citra and Strata hops in hope of coaxing Claude out to join us for a pint.

Rated 1-26-2025. This beer pours a golden amber with a very small head that goes away quickly. The aroma is crackers, malt, sweetness and a hint of alcohol. Taste is sweet malt and bitter hops and citrus fruit. Decent IIPA but nothing special. Have had this can awhile. BOD 1-31-2022 75 IBUs

Copenhagen 9/6 2022. 35,5 cl can from Meny, Borups Allé. Frb. F. Dark and green can with a cartoonish drawing of a huge green sea serpent roaring with impressive fangs.

Pours unclear - almost hazy - golden yellow with a big white head. Stable. Settles as thin but frothy layer of foam crawling up the side of the glass. Substantial lacing.

Aroma is medium intense with a sweet, malty and a bit fermented and boozy odor mingling with more subdued tart notes. Sweet le malts, overripe bruised peach, alcohol and decay. Citrus and orange.

Light carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, soft, bit greasy, lightly tingling texture.

Flavor is intense with a strong sweetness followed by a medium strong citric bitterness, Aftertaste is sweet with a rough bitter and boozy undertone. Lingering. Finish is fairly dry,

Pretty potent and boozy Serpent.

Poured from a stovepipe, canned on 5/10/23

On the pour just under 2 fingers of foamy, white head formed, then over a few minutes dissipates to a still foamy ring and small covering. Body is a hazy golden color.

Aroma brings tropical hop character with a slight darkness in the back. A tad bit heavy smelling.

Flavor brings bitterness up front that fades fast, and a pale malty sweetness that is present throughout. Less tropical in the flavor and more brightly herbal and floral.

Feel is full upfront, but the finish is surprisingly light. Seems like it will seem a bit syrupy up front, but that goes away quick. Not the most refreshing, but decent.

Overall this is a decently fine beer, but not something super memorable or mind blowing. Hop flavor is a bit disappointing.

The honest take: I love Batsquatch on tap, and the Dead Guy Ale is really tasty, especially from a glass growler. If they retired Colossal Claude it would likely do Rogue's reputation for very delicious beer a favor. I don't like this beer. The after taste is strong and like rotten colliander? Idk, sorry. Hate this beer is my possibly ignorant opinion. They have too many excellent beers to drink other than this stuff. Ugh. Dumping four of the six pack down the sink.

Pours a hazy gold color with a thin white head. Smells of tropical fruit. Flavor is also fruity. Soft fruits like melons and cantaloupe with citrus flavors along side. Mild bitterness. A drinkable but fruity Imperial IPA.

Pours a golden orange with a finger of head that quickly dissipates to a thin ring with some lacing. Aroma of orange, pine, and roasted toffee. Taste follows nose.

12oz can. Poured out a clear, golden orange color with a small, khaki-colored head of fluffy foam. It left thin rings of lace on the glass. It smelled of pine, resin, orange peel and sweet caramel maltiness. Sweet toasted caramel taste with tangy orange and a bitter piney bite.

500ml can from Albertsons. Dark gold, hazy, solid cap of tight head. Light citrus hoppy aroma. Taste brings a blend of citrus and dank, herbal notes, earthy. Not too strong, but leaves kind of a medicinal aftertaste.

Deep orange-gold hazy pour, nice white cap rises to the surface. The nose is grapefruity but flavor takes you in a different direction. There are two distinct waves; the first being herbal and strawberries, the second brings out pine and resin with a malt backbone. Nice long finish with that backbone too--very sustained. A potent IPA, and at 75 IBUs, not a shy one at all.

I tried to like this beer. The taste was not pleasing to me. I am OK with the Dead Guy and I really like the Enjoy By releases. I did not like this and even poured out almost a whole beer. I never pour out beer.

DATE: December 3, 2022... OCCASION: a surprise early return-home after Joey's Capelli EDP tournament was cancelled--glad to be home... pours a hazy, golden orange body that forces bubbles upwards into a creamy, snow-white whipped cream substance... its lacing is thick and consistent.... BIG grapefruit courtesy of the Chinook and Cascade, while the Strata builds bubblegum, dank hops, and faint strawberry... some malt on the back end, with a bit of caramel and herbal hints mixing in... creamy, lively, with less bitterness than expected and more body... a syrupy finish that draws well without abnormal warmth... a good buzz at the teeth, but it finds a sweet spot in its impact... as promised by its aroma, a crush of grapefruit hits first, followed by strawberry, bubblegum, and juicy apple--all together a robust fruit profile blanketed by the dankness attributed to the Strata.... this agrees with me, and its booziness is sneaky... this was the beer I drank in the Queen Beatrix airport awaiting our flight home from a great vacation... this accomplishes its goal, delivering a strong, agreeable, big IPA that creates a unique combination of hops....
