solid ipa here, cool to see their involvement in this, obviously important. the beer is maybe not their most exciting, but its an immediately reliable pint, the kind of beer we have come to expect from rogue, a little bitter, some good grain balance, and exceedingly drinkable, almost more of a pale ale to me than an ipa with the slightly sweet malt middle, but it walks the line. definitely a little red glow to this, indicating the malt sweetness to come, clearish though, and with a frothing white head on it from the tap, fresh at the newport pub. the aroma is piney and northwestern, nothing radical or unfamiliar here at all, their house yeast on display too giving it some depth through the grain, pineapple, christmas tree, and bitter citrus, a little dankness, straight up, and the flavor is the same with a little oily linger on the swallow but good balance overall and not runaway bitterness. dont mind the crystal malt in support, and the medium body seems about right. just a beer at the end of the day, but a good drinker for a critical cause, appreciate the effort even if it wouldnt rank among the most memorable of their ipa types for me...
