Imperfect Pineapple

rather basic wheat beer fermented with pineapple puree, a summery, slightly tangy slightly sweet brew that should have pretty wide appeal if they ramp this up and roll it out widely, the pineapple character is natural and obvious without being overwhelming, and the base beer is simple and straight forward. to me its a little too full bodied to be all the way refreshing, some heft to the wheat in here, and it does carry some residual sugar from the fruit as well. pale golden beer, short to nonexistent head from the tap, on the clear side for being wheat based, and with a nose of canned crushed pineapple, a little pineapple candy thing, but grounded by the nutty wheat. the fermentation smells and tastes a little unclean to me, lightly estery, and this also has a sort of fatigue to it, like its been sitting in the line awhile or was brewed six months ago or something, the quality aspects at their astoria location left a little to be desired when i was in, cool as the spot is. fuller medium body here, less carbonation than it wants, but bright pineapple character through it and maybe a hint of orange kicking up late. pleasant sipper, but im not making a night of this. it would be improved if lightened slightly and dried out a bit more, would also be cool as a pineapple wheat based lager for high summer...
