This dank, piney IPA is crafted with Chinook, Simcoe, Strata, and 2B Hop Lines Experimental, a blend that captures the essence of the Pacific Northwest. Expect resinous pine notes with dank undertones from Strata, balanced by the bright, citrusy twist of 2B Hop Lines Experimental. Slightly hazy light orange color with a modest white head. The aroma is pine, citrus and light caramel. The taste is light caramel malt, pine resin, tangerine and grapefruit, very slightly sweet, a bit tart. The finish is dry with lingering pine and citrus zest, moderate bitterness. The body is medium, moderate carbonation, crisp and very drinkable. Altogether, this is a very nice west coast IPA, hop forward but not overbearing, pleasant bitterness with a nice malt base, should go well with hearty food, nice for general enjoyment, well done.

Canned on 09/30/2025. Pours a pale golden yellow with some minimal chill haze and one finger of white foam with absent lacing from a twelve ounce can into a tulip
Glass. Aroma of pine and citrus with apple and flavors of pine resin and grapefruit. Somewhat thin mouthfeel. Overall I like this IPA. Should have bought it more often…..shrugs.

Somewhat hazy gold color, with a smallish but persistent head. Slightly dank hops in the nose. Not my favorite variety, but at least they're going for a lot of hop aroma. Same of hop flavor, with some malt sweetness. Touch of alcohol phenols. A bit of a hefty body, not a beer for casual quaffing.
Alright, I guess. Rogue seems far less adventurous than they were 30 years ago.

Aroma is piney/nutty hops, fruit and a hint of honey/syrup. The flavor is fruit, malts, slightly effervescent in the middle and a bitter/nutty hop finish.

Look: pour is clear gold with a white bubbly head, no lacing
Smell: piney, cannabis, apple
Taste: piney, strawberry, apple, resin, apricot
Feel: med body with moderate carbo, good bitterness
Overall: 6.9% abv 65 IBU. Great start, I can smell the pine coming out of the can. Taste is very piney and resinous. Fruity flavors of strawberry, apple and apricot mix in well and keep the edge off but there is really good bitterness throughout. This is my kind of brew. Pairs well with one of the Pacific Northwest's finest bands, Heart. Going with Straight On feels righteous. Rock on and enjoy!

Rogue Ales "Pacific Northwest IPA"
12 fl. oz. can "CANNED 12/27/2024" and sampled on 04/27/2025
Notes via stream of consciousness: A lightly hazy golden body is capped by a short head of white foam. The aroma is bright with pine and citrus. There's definitely some Chinook involved in this one. The malt is there as well, sweetish and bready. On to the taste - as expected it's piney and bitter with citrus (mainly grapefruit and orange) and some other fruits including apple, apricot, passion fruit, sweet berries, and mango. Based on the aroma and the name of the beer I was expecting a throwback West Coast IPA but there's a modern twist in play here. It's solidly bitter at least, which is definitely old school these days. I've already drank most of it so that says something. In the mouth it's medium bodied on the upper end and crisp but not overly so. The head didn't hold up that well but I'm not sure if that's the carbonation level, the beer itself, or if I've got a bit of a dirty glass. All in all I'm impressed but you should note that I've been through it all. I'm not sure when I tasted my first Sierra Nevada beers but it was within their first 5 years, and I was heavily into trying and tasting different beers back then. My point in saying that is that I like - sorry, I didn't mention that there's a "dank" and herbal characteristic to it as well - I like piney and bitter beers whereas Gen Z is definitely not into this stuff. That has nothing to do with how good the beer is, it's based on merit, I'm just suggesting that for the lesser experienced beer advocate you might have to let this one grow on you. Or not. Regardless, I think it's definitely worth trying.
