Aviator Bock is back at the Wig and Pen for the first time in 2 years.
It's got a very light malt aroma with a low melanoidin note.
There's a good, clear amber colour with a small, light tan head.
THe flavour is slightly grainy with a caramelly note. The malt flavour while there is not quite what I expect of a bock. It's a touch metallic. Good, crisp, dry finish.
Medium body with moderately-high carbonation.
A good strong lager but I don't know that it hits all the notes of a good bock, let alone a doppelbock.
