Slightly thin body for a stout, with a weak off-white head. Color is very dark though, opaque when held against the light in the glass.
Smell is not obvious to me, but my nose is a bit stuff.
Taste is a bit meh -- there's a slight roastiness, and a litttle roasted bitterness, and a touch of sweetness, but all of that is on the fringes, and the main vibe is simply that of an average beer that's leaning in the stout direction more than an actual stout. The color is the main thing that reminds you "oh yeah, this is a stout." Despite what some other reviewers say, I really wouldn't call the taste "chocolatey," although I suppose you could maybe find something along those lines if you looked really really hard...
Mouthfeel is a bit thin for a stout, but drinkable enough.
A bit of a disappointment -- the ABV is up there, but the taste isn't. Despite the somewhat lackluster taste, this is a pretty drinkable beer, and might be a good selection if it's the only non-macro around.
[Hitachino Nest's Espresso Stout is vastly better Japanese stout, at about the same ABV, and is far, far, more chocolatey...]

Pretty dark with some soft reddish hues round the edges. Soft but ample head. This is how I like a chocolate stout to taste-like chocolate! Interestingly there is no chocolate in it, just chocolate malts. Still, it is beautifully smooth and creamy with not much in the way of bite or bitterness. Very pleasant and drinkable. Thoroughly enjoyed

I'll preface this review with the fact that prior to tasting this beer I had tasted Deschutes Obsidian Stout as well as Stone's Russian Imperial Stout so that *may* account for a slightly lower score than is perhaps deserved. I'd have to taste is again without any bias.
Served in a Guiness half-pint glass, it appeared as an exact doppelganger of Guiness. Same color, same head color/density.
Smell was lacking. Bits of malt, caramel, and chocolate. But very weak. Taste is similar to the nose. Hops are pretty much undetectable. Too sweet and too chocolatey. The base of a good stout is there but it's full of holes. The mouthfeel is watery. I didn't feel the need to have more than a few sips of this one. However I may try it again in the future if the opportunity presents itself. When I have a mediocre beer, I like to make sure it really is mediocre before casting it off forever.
