Poured from 330mL Belgian-style bottle into a dimpled mug. Bottled 2/27/23.
Appearance: medium golden hue with a dash of haze and a thin layer of frothy ivory foam. Color is good, but a little more head would be nice.
Smell: rich, sweet, and malty. It does have that "raw malt" smell of a stronger European lager, and though it doesn't have a great deal of depth, it is not too bad.
Taste: subtler malt than the aroma, with an actually pretty nice, floral hopping. There's a little bit of a fruitiness going on here which I quite like as well. Though it's a bit sweet, I like it.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a good level of carbonation and creaminess.
Overall: this beer is actually pretty good! The aroma didn't telegraph the flavor's subtler qualities. I am into it.

Bought a bottle of this from a supermarket in Iwate, Japan. Poured into a Kirin half pint glass. Looked sexy as a clear light brown lager with a snowy white head on it that matched the weather where I am in Akita, Japan right now. Had a sashimi and kiritampo dinner with this beer, and it matched the fish and rice perfectly. Beautiful nutty/herbal taste without any negative aftertaste and no excess gas. Overall, this is an outstanding beer especially for a lager, and I will be searching out more Baeren before I live Tohoku. I have another bottle of this in the fridge, and I am looking forward to it tonight. If you have a chance, grab this and enjoy it with some Japanese cuisine!
