Review #100- How fitting a new style for a new milestone.
My 1st Barleywine- Personally I'd like to thank my wallet for holding out this long.

330ml bottle poured twice into a large sniffer.
Appearance: A deep amber brown with essentially no head or carbonation. The "wine" has decent legs as a 10%ner would expect.
Smell:Deep vanilla and oaky tones. The hops are quite upfront as a bitter smell and the malt nose is like a bakery.
Taste:Deep hoppy notes finishing bitterly with some spice. The malt has a round bold and balance. Some fruitiness.
Mouthfeel: Very dry like a good wine and small ABV factor. The body was flat with a fine slight slickness.

Summary- Don't really know what to think about this other then an interesting brew, should have split with a friend at least for the first time out. Its like the first time you try something new its overwhelming and exciting. So drop by and pick one up.

a: copper color, barely evident head finishes with a ring
s: very sweet fruit aromas with hints of alchohol and vanilla
t: sweet dark fruits (cherry?) to start, grainy in middle to finish, bitter/grainy hoppy finish along with some alcohol
m: full-bodied, flat, thick and syrupy
d: not bad, but more hoppy dominant than i'd like, just nothing special

A: Hazy rust-copper color with small khaki ring.
S: Intense cherry and floral hop with a hint of vanilla.
T: Big blast of cherry and other stone fruits up front; woody & earthy middle; tailing off into a long, dry hop and alcoholic finish.
M: Amazingly full bodied... puts most other BW I've had to shame in this regard.
D: A little undermalted and over hopped (even by ABW standards) but still an amazingly complex and delectable brew.
