500mL bottle thanks to Beermasons.

Mahogany brown on the pour, dark chocolate in the grass. Decent pillowy head leaves specks of lacing and a slight ring and film.

Chocolate milk, mild coffee, toasted bread, caramel and mild dark fruits. Flashes of hazelnut and cinnamon.

Bit more pronounced in the roast department, with brewed coffee and char pushing the dark fruits and subtle spice into the background.

Lightly creamy with active carbonation and an enduring roasty bitterness. Not quite the delightfully smooth body I love from the style

Solid and approachable Schwarzbier marred very slightly by the mouthfeel and lack of sweetness in the flavour profile.

Bottle from Beermasons. A brewery I've not heard of. Looking on the website, as well as the literature in the Beermasons box, this is a "dark ale", not a schwarzbier. Anyways, pours dark brown with red highlights when held up to light. Big, dense creamy tan head. Looks a treat.

Cocoa powder on the nose with a whisper of coffee and something kind of like... dry cat food? Big, straightforward. Flavors are bitter chocolate and coffee, lightly astringent roastiness. There's an unwelcome note of anise in the finish along with a slight sourness. Good at first, then drops off.

Medium bodied, oily. Just fine. A good porter with a few minor bum notes.

This beer pours a non see thru coca cola colour with beautiful carbonation that leaves a nice frothy two finger head with lots of nice lacing down the sides,it has aromas of coffee, dark plums, roasty malts and some choc notes,it has an above average mouthfeel and it tastes a little like a guniess but still different it leaves you with tastes of coffee, roasty choc malts and some hints of liquorice not a bad beer.

A pint glass poured from the brewery's tap during a tour.

Appearance- A deep brown nearly black like most Schwarzbiers. The head is lacking and it quickly becomes a bit of lacing. A little carbonation is present.
Smell- A sweet blend of roasted grain, coffee grounds, and cocoa powder. Its a bit harsh and aggressive.
Taste- A mixture of sweetness opposed to the other harsher bitterness present in the nose. Its lacking some continuity not a solid choice.
Mouthfeel- A medium body with a slickness and lasting bitterness.
Drinkability- It doesn't really meld well for me, a mediocre dark beer.

Dark chocolate brown, with some light penetrating the edges. Light tan whipped head. Sweet and almost lactic aroma over roasted coffee and chocolate beans. Taste is on the sweeter side, with a light tanginess before roasted bitterness comes in to restore order. Nice. Medium bodied with a waxy feel.
