I have never heard of this brew before so was pleasantly suprised to see it as the big yellow label just caught my eye and have never seen too many other sparkling ales here apart from the Coopers version,anyways the brew pours a nice see thru copper colour with beautiful carboantion that leaves a two finger head and nice lacing everywhere,the aroma is quite different and almost sweet like a brown creaming soda smell with a tinge of fruitiness,it has a nice mouthfeel for the style and is easy to down with nice tastes of sweet malt flavours firstly which finishes with a nice bitter twist from the native hops but not overly bitter and they do have a nice lime,nutty taste to them but not overly in your face but nice and subtle and a good showcase of this hop and i will buy this beer again.

This was brewed to commemorate the pioneering spirit of the old Kortegast Brewery on New Zealand's West Coast. It is hopped with the surviving now almost now wild hops grown by the brewery. Although these little flowers seem like a mysterious sight, it is possible to find them because I have eaten them.

500ml bottle--> My mug
Appearance- A copper red body with impressive frothy head that lingers for the duration of the sampling. The lacing is nice but not over obsessive.
Smell- A full hop character with an earthy, herbal, and a touch of cracked pepper spice. The malt seemed to mimic the earthly tones of the hops. As a whole not terribly overpowering, but certainly full and assertive when you stick your nose right over it.
Taste- A mild indication of hops that come off with the same characteristics as a wet hop and then fade into a slight malt bitterness with a quick finish.
Mouthfeel- Full Bodied and a light carbonation to "sparkle" the tongue. I would hesitate to say its too thick but it sits full on the tongue, which is feels right for the earthy qualities in the beer.
Drinkability- Superb I was shocked to see that my glass was empty at the end, I could have had another 500ml over the course of the evening.

Dear Wigram- Please brew this again as a seasonal, it was great as a fall weather beer.
