A bit of a faux bierhaus, German style. Located just off a busy old town square, it has a long series of picnic tables outside along the cobblestone street. I only went inside briefly to look around. It seemed more ornate than the rustic look outside.
There are only 6 beers offered. There appears to be no other beers ever brewed here. Price wise these are more expensive (50-70% more) than their Baltic peers.
There is German fare offered for food. We had two different sausages that were better than expected. Served with sauerkraut and long sliced potatoes.

The beer was average and the food below average. My main gripe was the fact that it is way over priced for what you get. The interior was horrid and not helped by very load German folk music. The person who dreamt up beer house must have taken one to many tabs of acid.
A place best avoided.

Visited in May 2012, during a cruise around the Baltic. We showed up mid-afternoon some time, after a long day of walking around the city. Sat down on the patio and a big picnic table. It took a while for a waiter to come over to help, but it was not like the place was packed. Anyway, ordered the Marzen...to say the least, it was not good...way too over carbonated. I think that they may have had 5-7 beers on tap, a variety of styles.
The interior is as other has described it. We didn't stick around too long given the bad service and bad beer. Overall, if I were you and I had limited time in Tallinn, I would go to the Hell Hunt.

Went here in the mid-afternoon. There were some people sitting outside on their patio by the street, a few folks inside, and a few in their interior beer garden. Service was so-so. Got seated at a big picnic style table with one of those built in taps at the end for busy nights. Place is huge. Staff are all in ethnic costume. I got a photo of my server girl. She told me she wasn't supposed to allow it and stepped behind a collumn to pose. Lots of breweriana and gleaming metalwork for the brewhouse and associated equipment. Food was ok, but my appetizer of pig's ears was very greasy and all was fairly expensive. Beers were not that great although the pils wasn't too bad. Ok to go for the experience of local micro beer craft and breweriana. Other than that there are other bars with better beer

The only brewpub in Estonia (Olde Hansa does not brew the beer themselves). When I was there, they had 7 of their beers available on the tap, as I understood, there are no seasonals there.
The pub has tried to imitate a German beer house. Staff is wearing strange costumes (never saw anything of that kind in Germany or Austria) and service, especially considering rather high price, is not very friendly.
Beers were ok, a bit above average, but nothing special. However, the place did not feel too comfortable so we went home after two pints. I would not recommend the place.

It was a cold day in winter when my wife and I visited this place. It will be a cold day in hell when we go back.
Okay, the beer, the most important part, was pretty good. They had around seven beers on, brewed on their premises, representing the typical german styles of Dunkles, Helles, Marzen, plus a Pils and a localised brew.
What really let this place down was the Cheese and the service. Cheese, as in Cheesiness, not the stuff you eat. They are desperatly trying to recreate a German beer hall, with an extra indoor area staging an outdoor scene of an Austrian village. The costumes that the staff are forced to wear are downright silly, and not really traditional wear. Even the girls at the Munich Oktoberfest were allowed skirts that covered their thighs. Maybe the costumes are slightly different in Austria, but I dont' recall seeing anything like that on my visits.
Perhaps it was the embarrassment of their costumes which meant that service was incredibly slow - we had to track down a waiter and ask him to get us a couple of beers in the end.
Things didn't get any better either, when we tried to take some photos of the place only to find a hand come in front of the lens and a loud "NO" shouted at us. I don't know what they were worried about - maybe they didn't want pictures leaked out of their costumes.
So we didn't stay to try the food, and went and found an Irish bar instead, which had in interesting bottled beer menu and a far more friendly staff.
Still, if you can put up with the lack of service, the beer is quite decent, and I could think of worse places to be.

A block off of the town hall square is this German-style bierhaus. My wife and I joke that there is an Irish bar in every city but slowly it seems that a German bierhaus is also becoming a requirement. This one does a good imitation with long tables and benches, accordian players, liederhosen, etc. (Their website says that they're Austrian. Whatvever).
When we went they had seven beers on tap all brewed on site by their brewmistress: a pilsner, marzen, dunkle, helles, honey, dark lager and premium lager. We tried the dunkle, dark lager and premium lager. Of those, we liked the premium lager (a strong lager) the best.
Their food menu is not particularly German (or Austrian if you prefer) but does include schweinshaxe which they call BeerHouseFest and which was huge and delicious. It was crunchy on the outside, tender in. We also had the overbaked mutton stew which was a disappointment. Reminded me of pot pie.
We sat outside which was fun but had trouble getting service.
