Bottle into a snifter. Entered into the Dusseldorf-style Altbier category at World Beer Cup 2012.
A: Dark orange with two fingers of soapy reddish beige froth.
S: Rife with notes of bread, cracker, and caramel. Toasted malt blends with biscuit. Light ester presence reminds me of apple. Hops are earthy and lightly perfumy.
T: Light apple and pear notes reside beneath toasted and bready malt characteristics. Caramel is light and there's a low level of bitterness. The finish has more toasty notes with apple skin, and it abruptly fades to nothing.
M: Medium body with upper medium carbonation. The mouthfeel is soft and creamy.
Overall: A solid beer from a brewer I'd never heard of. Nothing I find here would bring me back to it, though.
