330ml bottle, pint glass, bottle dated 181024. 5.0% is also listed on the bottle, though the print is Japanese, so it may not be ABV, but I bet it is.
The color is relatively light, for a self described black ale, chestnut brown to tea color. Creamy grey-tan describes the head overall. The finger morphs to a cap of large bubbles.
Chocolate graham cracker, clean ale yeast, small dose of earthy, spicy hops.
Chocolate malt water, earthy and spicy hops, slight biscuit, and clean yeast sum this beer from the Ryukyus. It’s veey mildly bitter.
Even though it produces a lovely head, the carbonation level is very low. They’ve produced a velvety soft, but thin beer.
Black Ales are a bit of an amorphous style and this fits within the broad parameters. There is absolutely desire and brewing talent on Okinawa.

Poured from a 350ml bottle purchased at a local AAA store on Okinawa. Smells of dark earth and roasted malts, weak though, sort of like a Guinness offering. The flavor is interesting, it shows a sourness at the tip of the tongue but has a robust strained coffee like bitter which is pleasant. It has a light medium body with tiny bubble carbonation and the ability to stay with you after the swallow, a plus.
Overall this is the best Okinawa beer I have tried since getting here. Unfortunately it goes for about 500 yen, just over five bucks, which is a bit high for what it is. -2013
Update 2022: Lighter milk chocolatey nose than previous review. Everything else matches except for my Guinness offering comment, not silkie enough as it isn't co2. Still a decent drink...Just got back to Okinawa and would not say this beer stands out much from the rest locally anymore.
