Draught poured into a nonic pint glass at Craftheads (Tokyo, JP)
Dark roasted malts, medium-roast Americano, and a spell of sharp Cascade-like grapefruit citrus lead the aromatic charge. A hint of wheat and a ripe mandarin-like citrusy sweetness also surfaces once you give the brew time to warm up.
The palate follows the nose in the best way possible. The first sensation on the palate is like the first sip of coffee you introduce to your body in the morning as a stop-gap measure to curing a hangover; the eye-opening roasty bitterness is quickly followed by a drying grapefruit and sweet oranges combination which makes you keep reaching out for your next sip. In the end, however, the grapefruit beats out the orange and you're left with a nice dry sensation on the back of your palate.
Medium-bodied, creamy, with a tingly simmering carbonation.

Dark, inky black colour with a smooth tan head. Fair head retention.
Spicy, herbal hop character from the wonderful fresh hops with some slightly roasted malt. Quite nice.
Slightly chalky roast malt notes with plenty of earthy, bitter hops. Quite nice.
Medium-light body with moderate carbonation. Good.
I really like this. The earthiness is nice with lots flavour coming through the mid palate. Excellent.
