L- Super-dark. Effectively black except when moving the glass right in front of a light-source there are glimpes of deep ruby chestnut through the side-edges of the glass.
S- Boy does this has a prominent smell, even 20cm away! Up close the major note is pungent deep roasted coffee.
T- Coffee, caramel and toffee, together with lashings of smoke.
F- It's rich, but the intense roastiness, smokiness and 6.0%ABV create decent balance, it's still pretty rich though.
O- This is about as far removed from generic stout (Guinness, for example) that's mega-gas infused and served out of a pressurised tap. The latter was the reason I NEVER drank stout until quite recent years when better quality ones came along from other than Guinness.
500ml bottle, BBE Nov-18. Unusually helpful/informative lable with suggestions on food-matching, and it's ratings on Look, Smell, Taste and Mouthfeel.

Bottle, 6.0% ABV. Dark brown color with tan head. Aroma has sweet chocolate, cocoa drink notes and some vanilla on a toasty malt backbone. Taste starts with vanilla but is quickly overwhelmed by roasted malts and cacao bitterness. Aftertaste is quite roasty, almost ashy. Light body, quite mineral and dry feel with medium carbonation. Overall it's a good stout but quite unbalanced.

My first review, admit joined as I feel this stout deserves credit. Very smooth at first but a real tang for an aftertaste. Chocolate is there but not overpowering, detailed taste rather than overpowering.

Very dark brown. creamy beige head.
Caramel and chocolate malt odour. Toasted wholemeal bread.
Sweet toasted malt and treacle flavour.
Full bodied and full flavoured. Very smooth almost like an oatmeal stout.
A good example of the genre.

A good stout but not as rich and complex as I had hoped.

Very good and underrated stout. Loads of vanilla balanced against a roasty backdrop.
