A 330ml bottle with a BB of Nov 2014, so it's a bit out of date. Acquired a while back from a B&M store. Described on the label as a continuously hopped 85-minute double IPA using Amarillo, Citra and Chinook at each stage of the brewing process.

A: Poured into a Duvel tulip. A rich amber hue with good clarity and medium carbonation. Yields a smallish head of white foam that lasts for a minute or two before reducing to a patchy surface layer.

S: Aroma of sweet malt and aromatic hops with hints of caramel, barley sugar, subtle pine, grass/hay, mild ale yeast and stewed hops. A touch of warming alcohol in the background. Underwhelming.

T: Tastes of sweet malt with a subdued bitter finish. Notes of pine resin, mild weed, sweet caramel, barley sugar, grass/hay, ale yeast and stewed hops. Quite sweet, followed by a restrained hoppy bitterness upon swallowing.

M: Mouthfeel is smooth and tingly, with pleasant carbonation and good body. Somewhat astringent, accompanied by an aftertaste of bitter hops, sweet caramel malt and ale yeast.

O: So-so, but I suspect that the hop character has faded quite a bit. It drinks more like a barleywine. Looks alright, while the aroma and flavour are decidedly sweet and malty with hints of pine and yeast. Nice body - thick and creamy. Drinkable enough, though I reckon this is past it's best. I might re-review if I come across it again. That said - worth trying if you see it.

Bottled & I think they've tweaked this and improved a little but I've experienced a lot more DIPAs than when I originally scored it
So it's golden with fleeting white head
It has lemon zest and grapefruit harbour on the nose
While the flavour goes through citrus and nearly onto menthol and liquorice gums
So it's got the IPA part down but the mouthfeel doesn't back up the DIPA
It seems a bit thin and hides the booze far too well
But it's decent enough and half the price of anything so hoppy and strong elsewhere

Hand-pulled half-pint in the Brewery Tap (The Windsor Castle) on 6th July 2013 during a Black Country Bus trip.

Light amber/golden body: on top a rocky white crown that stayed the distance.

Spicy hop nose with some sweeter malt notes arriving as the beer warmed in the glass. The taste was also hop first with a semi-sweet biscuity malt feel before the a hop bitterness with citrus hints closed the deal.

Didn't notice the alcohol strength in the flavours at all: a fine beer.

COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Special.
Dr.Hardwicke’s Double IPA 8.5%. Brewed with huge amounts of 3 varieties of American Hops, added continuously over a 85 minute boil and then dry hopped in the fermenter and cask. What better way to enjoy soring that with a pint of 8.5% Double IPA :)
