I had one of these last December, noted a review down and mislaid it. I was back in the same shop again and bought another thinking I'd not had it before... doh. Maybe later my earlier review notes will turn up and I'll post them too.
L- Mid-chestnut brown. Pours with a brief film of bubbles that disperse - unsurprising given it's ABV.
S- Smells like a cross between extremely hard-core farm cider and brandy barrel ageing.
T- Phew... dry and heavily wine-like. Its it aged in wine-barrels, that would explain it. Apart from that it has some richness and almost a dry fruit liquor twist in it.
F- Pungent and yet considering it's 12.6% it's surprisingly refined. I get no ABV burn whatsoever. Yes it's a thumper of a beer yet it's not shouty about it too.
O- Boom! This would go well on a winter's night with a nice big plate of stew or meat pie. Could also happily be shared between a few beer-fans as it's a slow-sippin' beer and it's profile is clear to register without having to have a whole bottle.
A well brewed beer, different, a big statement and nothing standing out as misplaced or 'wrong'. Nice one.
330ml bottle £4.99 bought from Bacchanalia, Mill Road, Cambridge. Brewed with wheat and barley. BB: Dec 2026 Batch: 6002.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
