Sampled January 2019 from 12oz can in pint style glass. There is an undecypherable package number listed on the can. I drank this less than 1 week after purchase.
Appearance: Very dark black, dark color, with a very thick dark tan head of about 2 fingers. The head lasted only a short length of time, and did not leave much lacing on the side of the glass.
Smell: Mostly coffee and malt aromas. There are also roasted fire aromas, along with some vanilla in the aroma. Nice combination and balance between the aromas.
Taste: Pronounced coffee and caramel flavors. Also burnt malt flavors. Full-bodied with interesting balance of flavors. It is extremely smooth, as expected from a milk stout. There is a hint of chocolate that may be due to the oats and malts, but it has a very good taste. Light hop flavor, but more than a typical milk stout. The flavors provide for a unique stout.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied, with strong alcohol which matches with the 9.5% on the label.
Overall: This Milk Stout reserve is a good stout. It has stronger flavors as well as alcohol than most milk stouts, and the mix of caramel and malts makes for a unique and interesting stout. I typically do not like milk stouts as they are too sweet without any hop balance, but this was better than the others I have tried.

Poured from a growler into a beer stein on October 2nd, 2013.
A- Black and opaque as motor oil. Absolutely no highlights even when held directly in front of a light. Creamy, tan head.
S- Roasty malts, chocolate milk, coffee, and a rustic, earthy quality.
T- All the same qualities of the aroma are also found in the taste. There are also some dark fruit and burnt sugar flavors, all of which combine to deceitfully conceal the high ABV.
M- so smooth, creamy, and full bodied thanks to the lactose and oatmeal.
O- Great find at their brewery. I love all of their beers, especially because it is a local, “hometown” thing for me; and their small batch stuff at the brewery is great and really allows their brewers to show of their craft.
