This strong ale has a deep amber colour, and is a premium, full bodied English style ale with that extra bit of alcohol content for more character and depth. Farsons Double Red Strong Ale is brewed with high quality malt and traditional English hops. Its strong, fresh character, with a pleasant hoppy bitterness, is balanced by some malty sweetness. Farsons Double Red is a well-balanced, satisfying British style amber ale with a snappy hop finish.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a medium to dark bronze amber with a half finger light khaki head with good retention and lacing. Aroma of lightly caramel and biscuit malt, red berries, plum, somewhat sweet but inviting. Flavor of dry caramel malt, honey, raspberries, light grassy hops. Finishes with berry reduction, grassy hops and light toffee. Medium bodied with light creaminess. A strong ale that leans strongly in the direction of an Irish red ale, with the classic red berry flavors. Somewhat on the sweet side and mildly flavored for the moderate ABV. Not very assertive, but very pleasant and nicely balanced. The finish and lingering aftertaste are great. I'd get this again if in the mood for an English style red ale.
