Taina is their seasonal brand name, this time it’s an Oktoberfest marzen. Poured on tap from the brewpub into a frozen glass (sad face). The color is a deep brown with red hues coming though as the light passes by, the head is a nice of white color, no lacing due to the frozen glass. The smell is beautiful with hints of malty toffee and bready yeast. Very nutty and smooth on the tongue with thick malt making an appearance but not lingering or getting chewy. Any hop aroma or flavor is mostly hidden behind this bouquet of malty goodness but some earthy hop resin does come out if you look for it.
Overall this is my kind of Oktoberfest Marzen, big, strong, yet refreshing, almost a dobbelbock. If you find yourself in PR in October, don’t pass this one up.
