On tap. Poured an opaque, jet-black color with a small, light brown head of foam. It smelled of whiskey, chocolate and toffee. Strong whiskey flavor with roasted malt, chocolate and a hint of bitterness.

Deep brown, with a clear chestnut fringe. Dense beige head leaves Belgian lace. Buttery oak and milk chocolate dominates the aroma, with notes of singed caramel and smokey black patent. Hint of peppery ethanol. Mostly soft and enticing aromawise. Semi sweet chocolate is in the forefront in flavor, and is complemented by hints of black licorice, prune and butterscotch, Black patent bitterness supercedes hop bitterness, leaving a static, smoked toffee presence. Very welcome, soft malt character. A touch undercarbonated even for a cask brew, but agreeably viscous. Finishes with a fleeting suggestion of cocoa dusted buttery biscuit. Delicious, but a bit too watm. This would be phenomenal with 0.5 more volumes of CO2 and at the proper cellar temp... this was served at about room temperature. Still, a damn tasty brew.
