Virtualy black with a crystal clear crimson fringe. Thick, dense steadfast beige head. Intricate lace. Waft of hot bourbon and vague cocoa upfront. Butterscotch surfaces as the beer breathes. Shy in roasted grain character aromawise. In flavor, prevalent is a balanced combination of roasted barley bitterness and vanilla esque oak barrel sweetness. Hugely buttery, but not at all cloying, due to the partially drying, offsetting hop bitterness. Deep, rich, milk chocolate presence. Integral buttery fudge impression. Agreeable minty ethanol presence. Viscous, full and creamy in mouthfeel. This brew has girth. Finishes with an impression of buttery toffee dipped in fresh ground dark roast coffee. An outstanding imperial stout, and truly a midwestern gem. Just beautiful (and only available) on cask.
