Poured an opaque, jet-black color with a one-finger, light brown colored head. It left sudsy trails of lace on the glass. It smelled somewhat smokey with chocolate and caramel notes. It tasted of smoke, chocolate and roasted maltiness. A touch of caramel, too. It was crisp, sharp and smooth. This is a solid schwarzbier.
