This had a light, tan head that quickly reduced to wispiness. It was a very clear, copper colored beer, enabling to easily pass the Nebraska Test. The nose had a lightly floral hoppiness to it and there was a decent hop presence on the palate. The finish evidenced a nice balance of malt and hops. This was a great example of a Great Plains American IPA.

The cask conditioned version of the IPA is significantly different than the carbonated tap version. The color is much lighter with a nice yeast haze. The aroma is sour and spicy and gives the sense of a heavy beer to come. The initial bite is eye-opening followed by a mellow strong spice and fruity character that introduces the malt. The nice heavy cask body really supports the full flavor with a mellow yeasty finish. Very, very tasty.

Orange hue and very clear. Although thin, the head leaves a respectable lace. The pungent AIPA hop nose is comprised of piney, slightly citrusy and grapefruity notes. The new hop cultivar Simcoe is used in all aspects in this IPA-- bittering, flavoring, and dry - hopping. Hop bitterness is sharp, yet very clean. The hop flavor is resiny, pine - oil like, sticky and completely American, but isn't at all overbearing. The overall hop profile is dominant in flavor, but there's sufficient malt balance to make this a very drinkable & flavorful IPA. As the brew warms, mild diacetyl adds additional complexity. Finishes... hmm... bitter! Definitely a good IPA. Although not as big as west coast IPAs, this brew occupies a comfortable and tasty niche in between an American pale ale & west coast IPA.
