This is a very limited batch and it is an acquired taste. You may want to start with a sample size before you invest in a full glass. This is a Belgian inspired Wheat Ale brewed with Oregon grown red raspberries. In fact, 2 pounds of them in every gallon of beer! The flavor displays a Belgian Lambic style sourness followed by the sweet tartness of the raspberries. Named for the Brewmaster’s lovely wife, its means vat or cask of Renés very special beer. I brewed this beer on our anniversary, May 15th , to commemorate 20 years of wedded bliss and to make up for forgetting to send Roses!

Pours a cloudy, pink color. 1/5 inch head of a white color. Decent retention and decent lacing. Smells of raspberries, strong yeast, alcohol, and bacterial funk. Fits the style of an American Wild Ale. Mouth feel is sharp and clean, with a high carbonation level. Tastes of raspberries, bacteria funk, yeast, pale malt, hint of sweet malt, and a hint of alcohol. Overall, weak appearance, but good aroma, body, blend, complexity, and feel. The raspberries are very pleasant.

On tap at the brewpub on 7/4/12.
A - Poured a clear, reddish pink color with a small, white head of bubbly foam. It left wispy trails of lace on the glass.
S - It smelled of cherry and some sweet notes.
T - It was tart with some sour cherry flavor. There was some sweetness to balance it out.
M - It was crisp with a slight puckering bite. A light to medium bodied ale.
O - This is a nice fruit beer. I enjoyed it on a hot summer afternoon.
