This is a very nice brew from the folks at the Tun, and it seems as if they realize it as it's been on quite consistently lately, and certainly moreso than their Bullies Brown.
It pours a lovely amber brown colour with a semi-thick, creamy tan head on top. A nice amount of residue remains on the glass throughout.
The smell is a bit lacking. Notes of nut, earth, wood, chocolate, etc can be picked up, but only if you take a hearty whiff from the glass. No aromas really jump out at you immediately. Everything's a bit faint, for the most part.
That said, the flavour builds quite nicely on these aromas and is very, very nice. There is a nutty chocolate flavour mixed with a rugged earthiness and roasted malt flavour throughout. Sweetness from perhaps a bit of caramel intermingles here and there.
This is a fairly hearty brew in terms of mouthfeel, which is how I prefer my brown ales. It's still a touch smooth, but the roughness of it clearly overwhelms, and for the good.
This is certainly and enjoyable and flavourful brew that is one of the better examples of the style that I have tasted recently. It doesn't stray far from the style, making it a bit basic in that sense, but it represents it well overall.

Dark bronze in color with a super 3" thick and creamy head. Lace coated the glass during the session. The aroma was of roasted malt. The flavor was slightly strange as the malt had burnt tones, and some nut, chocolate, and dark fruit (plums) rounded it out. Little to no bitterness. Mouthfeel was crisp at the start and finish. The burnt flavors seemed to linger too strongly after swallowing. Nice carbonation levels. Not an overly exciting brew.

This is one of 3 brews I tried while at the pub waiting for a bus. The brew is served in a pint glass and is cold. The color is a clear mahogany which is notably darker than the previous red ale I sampled. The head is soft and creamy in appearance and is perched on the brew in about a 1 cm beige amount. Aroma is generally weak as my other brews have been, but I do get a little bit of toffee and roasted malt scents. First sip reveals a brew with slightly creamy texture and very mild carbonation. The flavor starts as roasted malt and flows to a slight hop bite in the middle, but finishes with mild chocolate hints and a nice toasty flavor in my mouth. This is the best brew of the 3 that I sample in the pub.
