Poured from a growler bought the previous day.
Pours a light amber with a very thin head that immediately disappears.
The thin aroma hints at roasted grain with a touch of caramel sweetness.
The taste is not what I expected from an Octoberfest. It claims to be a lager, but is more like an average amber with some sweetness. It is similar to burnt toast covered with sweet sugar. Some alcohol notes come through. It's watery with some washed out hops and bland sugary malt. There is a subtle sweet fruitiness that almost saves it, but the flavors do not blend well. It's an attempt at balance in favor of malt, but the hops are all but lost.
The feel is rather weak. Most flavor is washed away, but for some residual sweetness.
This is one of the worst O-fests I've had, sorry to say. It just didn't work - there's something about it that almost makes it drinkable, but is ruined by odd aftertaste that is left. It also could use more carbonation and maybe a better hop selection, as only some sweetness is left (along with a strange aftertaste.)
