Pours a nice looking deep deep brown colour with a chunky tan head that leaves moderate amounts of residue on the glass.
The aroma is a blend of roasted malt, earthiness, some chocolate/cocoa notes and a hint of sweetness from the apples.
Flavour is similar, with a bit of a ruggedness and roasted malt flavour throughout that's cut with a bit of apple flavour that is so subtle at times that you could possibly miss it. Flavour is more to the sweet side than to the tart side, which I was expecting for some reason. Mouthfeel is full bodied with a bit of creaminess to it.
This one isn't half bad, but very similar to the regular stout. It seems the brewer has been playing around with adding some fruit flavouring to said regular stout. Both attempts have been pretty good thus far, although I think I preferred the cherry a bit more than the apple.
