How very interesting. I am told that this particular beer is only produced at the Gettysburg location, but I had some on cask at the Harrisburg location. Hmmm.

This arrived with a thick, deep-tan head, like the color of coffee ice cream. the nose had an interesting admixture of coffee, chocolate, and a charcoal smokiness. The color was an intensely dark brown with garnet highlights. The mouthfeel was somewhat thin with the coffee and chocolate flavors prevalent in the mouth. The finish had that smoky aspect that I had noted on the nose.

Apparently brewed here in Gettysburg. Pours very dark brown with thick brown head and served at the appropriate temperature. Aroma of muted malts. Flavor is roasty cocoa and dark malts. Expected more java in a coffee stout. Subdued, clean and creamy. Where these qualities detracted from the flavor, it made it one damn drinkable beer. If I didn't have to get going, would have had another.

Brewed at the Gettysburg location, where most other ABC beers on tap come from Harrisburg.

Appearance: black in color with a thick tan 1" head that lasted quite a while. Some spotty lacing develops.

Smell: easily detectable roasted malts and coffee.

Taste: roasted malts, espresso, hints of milk chocolate, and very little bitterness. Somewhat dry. This is almost a like drinking a flavored coffee.

Mouthfeel: Medium in body. Smooth at the start and the finish is creamy. Dryness really comes through at the end.

Drinkability: very easy drinking for a stout, as several of these could be quaffed in one session. Worth trying if it's on tap.
