Pours an amber color with a bit of golden hues. Thin white cap has a fair amount of retension. Nose has a full range of vanilla, oak and some other hints of smoke. Little bit of fruit aroma as well that is minorly reminiscent of cidar. Taste has all the flavors you would expect coming from the aroma but includes a bit more emphasis on the alcohol esters and more fruit character. Feel is very thin and carb is light...a bit too light. Finishes quite warming. As it warms, a bit of caramel tones come to the front in the taste with more and more of the fruit being noticeable as a mixture of pear and apples. This is a very good beer (I am a sucker for the oaked bourbon barrel aroma) however, this beer flirts with disaster and my biggest complaint is that it is nearly flat.
