Served in an oversized mug on cask it presents itself with a creamy tan head, slightly stained yellow and more than 2 fingers strong. Retains very well, almost all the way to the last sip. Lace clings in a thick curtain about the glass. Color of the beer is a slightly hazy amber/orange. Aroma has a bright citrusy and sweet hop character that is a little floral and somewhat piney. Very enjoyable before the first sip is even taken. Taste includes a bit of subtle caramel malt that gets completely engulfed in flavorful hops. The variety of flavors coming from the hops range from citrus to pine, floral to grassy and just all around super enjoyable without getting overly bitter and distracting...until the finish where the bitterness settles in. In addition to the caramel malt character there is a fresh grainy taste as well. Very smooth, creamy mouthfeel that is medium to heavy in comparison to other examples of the style. As it warms, it is noteable that it is bitter but it has a very mellow bitterness not a piercing oily hop bitterness. Really liked this brew, the hops have a nice array of flavor and aroma that was super enjoyable.
