I had this beer at the Pizza Port location in Carlsbad on 10/02/04. It is served with a nice creamy head on a dark black brew. The aroma is a coffee roast smell. Not roasted coffee, but it smells like the actual process of rasoting the coffee if you know what I mean. The flavor is opened with a bit of hoppiness and then the dark roast flavors bust in. It is a bit thinner in the mouth than one would like out of a stout.

Sampled on nitro tap at the Carlsbad brewpub.
This stout poured a very dark reddish brown color (practically black unless held to a light) with very creamy, tan foam that persisted and clung to the sides of the glass. The smell was a dark, coffee, malty aroma. The taste was dark malt: coffee, light mollasses, roasted barley. There was some hop bitterness in the finish. The mouthfeel was smooth and creamy with medium body and low carbonation. Overall a dry stout. There was a nice, slightly bitter lingering aftertaste. This was a good, dry Irish stout.

Dark brown color. Aroma is roasted malts and chocolate. A very smooth medium bodied stout. Malts are roasted with chocolate and coffee flavor. Dry hopped. A little bit thin for a stout. Good flavor. A nice dry stout. Mouthfeel is a touch thin. Finish is clean and dry. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
