On tap at Pizza Port – San Clemente, CA
Full Pint – 06/06/15
A: Pours a nice mix between dark gold to pale amber in body with some semi-hazy clarity. A dense half finger layer of egg white cream lays over top for a few minutes. Leaves a few squiggles tracks of lace as is slides back dwon into the glass.
S: Citrus fruits, tropical mango, and floral notes make up a good portion of the nose. Getting lots of ripe tangerine and peach character to this. There is a bit of caramel malt there and some softly baked bread as well. Fairly nice aroma. Fresh with the fruity hops.
T: Lots of tropical mango and melon with orange flesh in the flav. Melds into a dash of bread crust and a caramel cracker malt to round out. An upper moderate amount of bitter resins carry through to a climax of moderate dank spice and a little alcohol warmth surfacing. A really solid IPA that is proving easy to drink here.
M: Moderate light body with a lightly filling effect from the malts. Still carries on a very smooth texture as it gathers into a peppery bitterness and semi drying finish. Somewhat resinous with a lasting linger and a bit of alcohol warmth on exhalation. Pretty well balanced in all.
D: A real nice brew to savor. Lots of fresh citrus and tropical mango/apricot flavor. A solid B+ effort here. Not quite in the top echelon of hoppy Pizza Port brews but definitely worthy in itself.
