On tap @ the San Diego Strong Ale Fest.
Poured a darker and hazy golden color with a smaller sized white head. Aromas of fruitiness with a decent amount of hops. Tastes had the same fruitiness with a lighter bitterness. On the sweet side.

Draught @ San Clemente location. The color was a bit of a suprise to me: it was a golden color, and was slightly hazy. It also had a minimal white head on it. The aroma was a bit weak, and it was hard to determine what was in there. The taste was malty, but not a sweet as some barleywines. It even had some notes of banana to the taste.

Hazy brilliant yellow body with a ring of foam around the inner perimeter of the glass which produced a fair amount of lacing for such a high ABV brew.
The nose of this beast is fantastic...providing you're a confirmed hophead of the Left Coast variety. The aroma is straight, in-your-face piney hoppiness...as a matter of fact, this jewel smells more like Frank than Frank itself. A hoppy barleywinne? What the...?
When I could no longer contain myself (the drool factor was outrageous while taking notes) I finally managed my first taste.
The mouthfeel becomes apparent before the flavor...sheer velvety smoothness. The taste? Pure hoppiness backed by biggie malts, zesty yeasy, and a slight warming of the throat as the liquid works its way down the hatch.
This puppy is huge, so get it while it lasts as Kirk only brews it when the mood strikes...
