Appearance: Pours brown with a deep reddish hue. The head isn't abundant, but sticks with the beer a little more than other schotch ales and is quite dense.
Smell: Caramel malts predominate the beer and mixes notes of pure caramel with cherries.
Taste: The cherries are more prevelant in the taste, and seem even more fresh than in the smell. The caramel comes through powerfully too, making the taste strong and sweet.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a light bitterness and no trace of alcohol. This is a rather smooth ride.
Drinkability: This is probably my favorite scotch ale of all time, and I would buy it regularly if I could find it regularly.

A: Deep mahogony amber. Clean and clear with pomegranite highlights. Creamy, green tinted head.
S: Fruity, smoked peat, toast and cantelope.
T: Immediate malty sweetness like a good red. B vitamins reminiscent of redbull across the center of the tongue. Subtle peat smoked grains. Finishes with loads of sweet red fruit with toasted almonds and some raisins.
M: Medium body, sort of hard water mouthfeel.
D: Decent. Too sweet and not complex at all. I feel like this beer is "thrown together". Not one of my favorite port beers.
